Postdocs and Associate Researchers in Columbia university are playing a critical role during the COVID-19 pandemic. Some of us have shifted to COVID-19 research, others are doing essential work to hold the critical aspects of research labs together amidst social distancing and hundreds of us have stepped up to volunteer to help Columbia and the Presbyterian Hospital play a proactive role in taking on COVID-19 in one of its global epicenters.

Columbia postdocs and Associate Researchers like Alvaro Cuesta-Dominguez are on the frontlines of the COVID-19 epidemic, volunteering their skills to biobank samples and perform cutting-edge research. Like the majority of postdoctoral and Associate Researchers at Columbia, Alvaro wants the university to agree to a fair contract with their union, CPW-UAW.

Marta Galan-Diez is an Associate Research Scientist at Columbia University, and during the COVID-19 pandemic she is volunteering to biobank samples to help fight the virus. Like the majority of postdoctoral and Associate Researchers at Columbia, Marta wants the university to agree to a fair union contract that protects workers from bullying and sexual harassment.

Francesco Cambuli is a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in the department of Hematology and Oncology of Columbia University. While continuing his research on cancer, Francesco is also volunteering his time to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic and as a majority of postdoctoral and Associate Researchers at Columbia he wants the administration to recognize their efforts and agree to a fair contract.
