That\u2019s a big win to ensure we are not penalized for being internationals. We also TA\u2019d Art. 28: Workspace and Materials with the agreement to have a Diversity and Inclusion Working Group to discuss improvements on hiring practices to promote diversity, and increase accessibility to gender neutral bathrooms.  This means the only open articles relate to the economic topics which most postdocs\/ARS established as priorities! <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Bargaining starts at 10:41am.<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today we are expecting Admin\u2019s responses on the following articles which we presented on July 18th.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1bmaE1tUMxHmRJMx1fOQfR4NxCi31dSKTn9M00lJ9hBE\/edit\">Article 12: International Employees<\/a>&nbsp;<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1IM_HNsrVlD5lBpW_dFNhGH2LG6Tu47-TMsG3pu1OH1k\/edit\">Article 28: Workspace and Materials &#8211; Miscellaneous addition<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>After some housekeeping at 10:51AM <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1LYSHwpz1BGEVDKAET48Z3FEtgm_ur-QT\/view?usp=drive_link\">CU Admin gave us their counters<\/a> to Art 2, Art 12, and Art 28 + miscellaneous which they prefer to call Side Letter.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After receiving their counters we had a zoom caucus (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSc5Z9aAGqDNZU8kNN5cTruS8e9EG_YL_mRUkLhhpjUnPjISlg\/viewform\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">join our slack<\/a> to receive info of when caucuses are held and join!<\/strong>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>During the caucus we discussed questions we wanted to clarify with them and our positions in their counters.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>At 12:22 PM we reconvene at the table.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>On CU\u2019s proposal for <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1ezgNqj6OvRm9nWqkNOOAMloR_AhGwBPK\/view?usp=sharing\"><strong>Art 2: APPOINTMENTS<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; We decided to wait to see their counterproposal in all the other economic topics as this is part of the package we gave them.<\/li><li><strong>On CU\u2019s proposal for <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1D2c8CjmqexJTjF5mFBCZA0NPHUlQi0sy\/view?usp=sharing\"><strong>Art 12: INTERNATIONAL EMPLOYEES<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; We requested some clarification regarding the restrictions of using the $1,250 for Visa maintenance expenses.&nbsp;<ul><li>We want to make sure that the new article won\u2019t be use to make us pay for Visa Fees that up until now were covered by the departments (like the premium processing of H1B Visas)<\/li><li>They agreed to revise the language.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>On CU\u2019s proposal for <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1ZS1zQ56rcB68-4fhhKD2yHGXkM1bd8wr\/view?usp=sharing\"><strong>Art 28: WORKSPACE AND MATERIALS + SIDE LETTER: DIVERSITY ON HIRING PRACTICES AND INCLUSIVITY IN THE WORKPLACE<\/strong><\/a><strong> <\/strong>&#8211; we are ready to TA but we are missing clarification on remote work guidelines which was part of our proposal.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>The head of HR explains to us the guidelines related to remote work at Columbia:<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>When remote work is <strong><em>related to disability<\/em><\/strong> the guidelines can be found in Columbia\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/humanresources.columbia.edu\/content\/workplace-accommodations\">disability Website<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong><em>100% remote work<\/em><\/strong> &#8211; may have complicated tax implications if it\u2019s performed in a different state or even more difficult if abroad which also gets complicated with restrictions from the NIH.&nbsp;<ul><li>Accordingly, it requires approval from the Provost, HR, the Department and at CUMC also from the Dean.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><strong><em>Hybrid in person\/remote work<\/em><\/strong> &#8211; is provided at the discretion of the department provided that the requirements are met.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>After this clarification &#8211; <strong>which we will use to assist members in arranging hybrid in person\/remote work<\/strong> &#8211;
