Colleagues from Mt. Sinai (SPOC) and Columbia Grad Student Workers (SWC) joined to show support. 80+ bagels, 8 lbs of cream cheese, liters of coffee were consumed and CPW t-shirts distributed. \u2600\ufe0f\ud83c\udf08\ud83d\udd25<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/dC7FJfSP8mozcpO6wmQl3uODk6r4O0LED969S7ZtopXM1ZQpngn1Q8OTXZhh2jhXe7KhE1TxzWzj6gx7obASaW9mOhpsjhxjIPx5D1kX89biNhmUcmvarYtgmVqcXLCjx5bu7vrzDse420Oep7Nzg5Y\" alt=\"\" width=\"512\" height=\"342\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>10 am, collective walking to Studebaker building and bargaining table formation. <\/strong><strong><br><\/strong><strong>\ud83d\udcbb\ud83d\udcd6\ud83d\udd8b\ufe0f<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/RV9NbmxwMJ4X00WfLaDuLAoRIBR8qZyhAMuIWWROo6yR4pjrd9XapM2oA30GB_yj7tR1wVY8qQq6undKYIguW6jV5iR-SzaajtTvsH1HNe4jAC3lSzrEgsHt6cq9aNEplFQBpGLC_Eb08eriwKdlctk\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>10:15 am &#8211; 3:30 pm, negotiation time!<\/strong><strong><br><\/strong><strong>\ud83d\udde3\ufe0f\ud83d\udcab<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>After brief introductions of the respective members, the two bargaining teams (Union, Administration) addressed the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/columbiapostdocunion.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/CPW-UAW-4100_Bargaining-2023.pdf\">Our comprehensive proposal<\/a>, amending 15 articles on our contract (only introduced).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/columbiapostdocunion.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/CPW-UAW_CU_Negotiation_Parameters_20_April_2023.pdf\">Hybrid modality for negotiation sessions<\/a>. One of the main is to make the sessions accessible to every Member. <em>The CU Admin pushed hard against hybrid bargaining!!!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1GStoMBiXNvavtJ6uP8Apf5gKMnA222uw\/view\">CU Admin\u2019s proposal<\/a>. They offered modifications of only 4 articles:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Vacations<\/li><li>Grievance and Arbitration<\/li><li>Union dues<\/li><li>Union access and rights<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We will debrief their offer with the BC this Tuesday by Zoom, <a href=\"https:\/\/us02web.zoom.us\/meeting\/register\/tZ0vduGsqjgvH9Zvgk-HeJc0ceZ3Oopc8lae\">info here below<\/a>. The most concerning issues in their offer are the following:<em> weakening and defunding our Union, slowing down the grievance process and taking away our right to have unused vacation paid.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8211; They asked some questions on selected proposals of our package.<br><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1HW3PkjZmIYoA0f78Op2wFTlb6s_vy4c-QYaKkior98w\/edit?usp=sharing\">CHECK THE BARGAINING ARTICLE TRACKER<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Throughout the day, we took breaks to discuss within our group how to move forward and what to reply to CU Admin. (Caucusing). Hybrid bargaining is fundamental if we want to be able to hear from our Members during these moments!!!<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What\u2019s next?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Next scheduled bargaining session is on May 9, 10am.<\/strong> We requested more dates given that are only 2 months away from the expiration of our contract. This is called <em>caucusing<\/em>.
