It has been adopted, and can be amended, only by a majority vote of the delegates at regular Constitutional Conventions or Special Conventions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Every four years, the UAW holds a Constitutional Convention where delegates adopt resolutions that set the union\u2019s position on important workplace and societal issues, decide constitutional changes, and elect officers and regional directors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Local union members elect their convention delegates. Local union delegate numbers and votes are based on membership size.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1NVSOB-L85zSb6YEROZ98k2yMICvSNLJi\/view?usp=sharing\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Please click here<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to read the 2022 Constitutional Convention Call.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Responsibilities of delegates:&nbsp;<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Delegates will attend in person the 38th UAW Constitutional Convention in Detroit, Michigan on July 25-28, 2022.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The delegate from our Local will have voting rights to represent the position of our members during the Convention. Including:&nbsp;<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Resolutions and Amendments presented to the UAW Constitution.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nomination of candidates for our Regional Director and other positions of the International Executive Board.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Any other business put forward at the convention&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>BUSINESS OF CONVENTION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The business of the International Convention shall proceed in compliance with Article 8, Sections 2 and 3 of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/uaw.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/2018-UAW-Constitution.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">International Constitution<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, with one modification. Pending issuance of Rules by the Monitor &#8211; which, pursuant to the Consent Decree, shall be developed by the Monitor in consultation with the UAW &#8211; it is anticipated that the Nomination of Officers (\u201cIEB Members\u201d) will occur at the International Convention as prescribed by the International Constitution, but the Election of Officers (\u201cIEB Members\u201d) will subsequently occur through a direct voting system to be established by the Monitor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>ARTICLE 8 &#8211; Conventions<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Section 2. The business of the International Convention shall proceed in the following order unless otherwise ordered by the Convention:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(1) Call to Order.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(2) Report on Credentials.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(3) Reading of Convention Rules.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(4) Appointing Committees.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(5) Communications and Bills.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(6) Resolutions, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(7) Reports of Committees.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(8) Report of Officers and International Executive Board.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(9) Nomination and Election of Officers and International Trustee.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(10) Unfinished Business.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(11) New Business.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(12) Adjournment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Section 3. Twenty-five (25) percent of all of the delegates seated at any International Convention shall constitute a quorum. No business shall come before or be considered by the Convention at any session unless a quorum is present.
