Support with Student Workers of Columbia (SWC) fall strike<\/h3>\n

Our teaching and research assistant colleagues in the Student Workers of Columbia-UAW are rounding up their third week of strike. After hearing a report from one of their Bargaining Committee members at our November meeting we want to reiterate we stand in solidarity with SWC.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Of support the TRIPS Waiver for COVID-19 Treatments & Vaccines<\/h3>\n

Earlier in 2020 CPW-UAW Local 4100 signed this letter asking the Biden administration to support the TRIPS Waiver for COVID-19 Treatments & Vaccines<\/a> and, in anticipation of the upcoming WTO meeting, the Executive Board appeals again to the WTO and worldwide leaders to join the 58 sponsoring governments already supporting it.<\/p>\n

On anti-Asian violence and racism<\/h3>\n

On March 23, 2021, our Anti-Racism, Diversity and Inclusion working group along with our Executive Board published a <\/span>statement from our Local<\/span> condemning the rise of racist violence against Asian communities. If you want to get involved in your union in order to address racism at the university and the broader society, <\/span>you can sign up for our working group<\/span><\/a> on anti-racism, diversity and inclusion.<\/span><\/p>\n

Of support with the Graduate Workers of Columbia strike<\/h3>\n

After discussion on our February membership meeting we overwhelming want to express support our Graduate Workers colleagues on their years long fight for a fair first contract. Our Executive Board wrote a statement of support presented on our March membership meeting as the Graduate Workers of Columbia (GWC) moved towards a strike.<\/p>\n

Solidarity with the Columbia-Barnard tuition strike<\/h3>\n

On December 15 at our membership meeting we voted to support the Tuition Strike organized by the Columbia-Barnard chapter of Young Democratic Socialists of America (YDSA).<\/p>\n

Of Support with New York City District Council of Carpenters<\/h3>\n

On September 18th, 2020 the New York City and Vicinity District Council of Carpenters protested Columbia\u2019s intention to once again use Contracting companies that disregard workers rights for the new project on 125th Street. Our Executive Board wrote a statement of support with the Carpenters Union on their fight to ensure safe working conditions and minimum standard wages and benefits for workers.<\/p>\n

On Anti-Black Violence<\/h3>\n

On the summer of 2020, on the light of new cases of police violence against communities of color and the renewed wave protests by the Black Lives Matter movement, our Bargaining Committee wrote a statement condemning systemic racism and racist police violence.<\/p>\n
