Our bargaining committee drafts proposals based on surveys collected from a majority of Postdocs and Associate Research Scientists (PARs), with the help of volunteer working groups. Then, we make written proposals to Columbia during regularly held bargaining sessions and Columbia makes written counter proposals. We continue this process until we reach agreements that both sides can accept on each topic. Once we’ve reached a “tentative agreement” on all the topics we want to cover in the contract, members of the unit have the opportunity to vote to ratify the contract, and if it is ratified it would then go into effect.
- When was our union election and was I eligible to vote?
- When are we going to have a contract?
